Summer is rearing its sweltering head and one of the first effects it has on me is dry lips. Lately, my normal day-to-day lip balm (Maybelline Baby Lips) just doesn’t cut it anymore.
Instead of buying and trying out a new lip balm, I opted for
my tried-and-tested Lucas’ Pawpaw Ointment. I’ve written about it before for use on skin and mentioned that it’s also a great lip balm. What it does for your lips is it nourishes it in more than a surface level so you’ll feel your whole puckers get healthy and hydrated, not just its surface. The effects are long-lasting, as well, as the product seems to sit on top of the lips, forming a moist film that locks in moisture.
The unfortunate thing about this is it doesn’t have SPF and it’s very easy to put on a thick layer that doesn’t do well under lipstick. My advice is to use a lip tint first (I recommend the Benefit Lip Tints) then put a very, very thing layer of the ointment on top. A small amount goes a long way so don’t be afraid to just dab it on. You’ll feel the change on your lips so judge the amount by that.
From what I know, LPO is also available in a smaller tube specifically designed for lips (with the slanted applicator). Check out Digital Traincase for more info.
That’s it. What’s your go-to summer lip balm?
